What is a Vehicle?

To WorkWave Route Manager, a Vehicle is where you will have a chance to define the unique aspects of your fleet and your workforce. Route Manager will then use this information to build your day's work. The more information you provide here the better Route Manager will be able to help you plan your day.

For example, you can tell Route Manager information like your Vehicle’s normal schedule vs Exceptions (like a Holiday or a day off). This gives you the ability to upload many weeks worth of Order data into the system and let Route Manager do your planning. You get to worry less.
Ask yourself some questions when defining your fleet. This is not an exhaustive list by any means, but just some points to consider:
  • What limits do I face when planning my routes?
  • What regulations must I follow about Vehicle weight limits or Driver working time?
  • What sort of schedule does my fleet run?
  • Do I have some Vehicles or Drivers that have certain skills(Tags) that make them the only ones qualified to visit some Orders?
  • Do some of my Vehicles cost me more to run than others?
A Vehicle can be created that takes all of these things into consideration.
Here is how we can define a Vehicle:
Vehicle ID
The name, code, call sign or even a plate number, for this Vehicle.
Color (hex)
Change the color of the Vehicle and the Orders assigned to it.

Event Tracking
Allow your Vehicle to gain access to the Mobile 360 Package.

GPS Tracking
Track your Vehicles by using WorkWave GPS. (Select your GPS Device.)

On a calendar, the days your Vehicle will be working as well as any Exceptions. “Normal Day” is the default

You can create special days (holidays, time off, etc) here that will have shortened hours or other changes to the normal routine.
These can be one-off Exceptions or recurring days on an annual, monthly, or weekly basis.

Copy Settings
Copy the settings from one Vehicle to another.

Is Available
Is your Vehicle working on this day?
Start Depot
The Depot your Vehicle will depart from.
Of course, if your Vehicles are only paid from their first stop we can plan for that as well. Let us know!
End Depot
The Depot your Vehicle will return to. Select “None” if you have no preference on where they go when their Orders are served.
Apply from Date
Pick the date you want these settings to go into effect.

When your Vehicle is eligible to leave the Depot and make way to the first Order.
The latest your Vehicle can return to the Depot or end their day.
This option will make sure your Vehicle leaves right on time to serve your first Order’s Time Window and avoid Idle Time.
Define how long and between what times your Vehicle can have a break. You can have three possible windows - just click the + button. Define in HH:MM
Route Manager will suggest when the break should be in order to maximize the efficiency of the route.
Tell the planner the total time your Vehicle and Driver are allowed to work from the time they set out for their first Order. This is driving time plus the time spent at each Order
Example: You have Orders to serve from 8 AM to 8 PM but you can only work your Vehicle for 7 consecutive hours. Setting 7:00 here will limit that one Vehicle to only 7 hours to this day, pushing other Orders to other Vehicles who started later.
This is the total time your Vehicle is allowed to be on the road for. This does not count time spent at each Order.

The Maximum amount of miles you want your Vehicle to be on the road for. This includes coming back to the Depot

Here, define the cargo and the maximum amount your Vehicles can carry. You can enter the name of the load or a code generated by your system. You can define up to 5.

Define how much of the load this Vehicle can carry. This can be done in whole numbers or with values up to two decimal points. For example, "3" or "3.25".

The planner will never fill the Vehicle beyond this point.

Unique personal skill, piece of equipment or other special attributes that make a Vehicle or group of Vehicles the only qualified resources to serve an Order.

Minimum Requirements
The least amount of time that can be worked by a Vehicle. Used to help balance routes.
The least amount of Load Capacity that can be completed by a Vehicle. Used to help balance routes.

The unique speed of this Vehicle. Use this when you have some Vehicles that travel at different speeds: ones that have a new or inexperienced Driver, or maybe even a larger Vehicle that travels slower, etc.
Cost - Costs are an extremely valuable piece of information you can give the Route Manager about your fleet. With this information, it can not only give you complete ideas about what your routes are costing you, but also a way for Route Manager to further optimize your routes. Route Manager will favor the least costly Vehicles in your fleet when it can. Route Manager will minimize your costs and this includes using your least costly Vehicles unless it is absolutely necessary to serve all of your Orders.
The cost of using this Vehicle on any given day. This is a flat fee.
This is how much it costs for you to have your Driver/technician on site.
This is how much it costs for your Driver to be on the road.
How much it costs to have your Driver sitting and idling while waiting for the next job.
The cost of your Vehicle  on its break.
The per distance driven cost of your Vehicle.
The cost for your Vehicle to stop at each address.
