What is an API?

Are you a developer? You can view our API documentation here: WorkWave Route Manager API Reference

Below is a high-level description of what an API is, does, and how you can use it in Route Manager. It can get very technical, but the purpose of this explanation is to break it down in the most simple terms. More information about APIs can also be found here.

API stands for Application Programming Interface. Basically, it is a way that different programs can send and receive information from one another with minimal direct human interaction.

WorkWave Route Manager offers a robust API that you can use in order to automate your import and export process as well as integrate 3rd party apps (maybe even your own!). Then, you can export key metrics about who was visited, driver check-ins, and driver check-outs.

For instance, you can link your Customer Relationship software to Route Manager in order to upload visits you need to make in a certain date range. This can include all of the unique information about each visit such as Time Windows and Loads.

Then, as your drivers/technicians check in and out at each stop (using our app or your own), this information is recorded in Route Manager. You can call that information back to your own system for reporting - or - use the data Route Manager provides to send notices to the next people you are visiting that you are running early, late, or are on time.
